About FeldenkraisThe Feldenkrais Method® was developed by Moshe Feldenkrais, PhD (1904-1984). He was a physicist, engineer, Judo Master, soccer player, and the author of many books on the relationship between awareness, movement, emotions and learning. He developed Feldenkrais as a process of active learning and awareness to improve the connection between the mind and body. Feldenkrais is explored through individual sessions and group lessons. Sessions in Feldenkrais are more accurately described as an educational process, in which the practitioner offers guidance through verbal cues and occasionally physical support of gentle movements. This helps the nervous system to learn new information and to become open to new possibilities of movement. Intentional awareness of current body movements will aid a person in learning how to move with ease within their body. Feldenkrais is most often sought out to alleviate chronic pain and repetitive stress injuries, and it is helpful for many other conditions. It is also used by athletes, musicians and dancers to enhance performance.
“Movement is life. Life is a process. Improve the quality of the process and you improve the quality of life itself.” -Moshe Feldenkrais, PhD
